Caring for yourself & your candle.

I’d love you to get the most out of your new candle, so here are a few tips to keep your candle in optimum condition and maintain the burn quality for longer.

The wick is cut to the perfect length for the first burn so no need to trim it. Be sure to keep your candle away from draughts and in a well ventilated room. Draughts can cause sooting or blackening of the container. When burning your candle for the first time, burn for 1.5-3 hours (Depending on the size.). This allows the melt pool to reach the edges of the container and avoids a tunnel effect which leaves a thick residue of wax around the edges of the candle’s container. The first burn is the most important, as subsequent burns tend to follow the first. Remember after extinguishing your candle to re-centre the wick before the wax sets and be sure to remove all debris from the melt pool. Debris can cause the candle to burn faster and create an unpleasant smell. Once the wax has set, trim the wick to around 5mm to ensure a clean burn next time around. A long or off-centred wick can cause high flames, smoking or sooting. Always stop burning your candle when 10mm of wax remains in the bottom of your container.

I hope you enjoy your JEM candle.
